Building a Wellness Team
School Wellness Teams provide a centralized advocate group for the health of the school community. They lead the effort to determine what their school needs, they implement programs as well as track the success and progress of the programs.
For more information, see Building a Wellness Team.
Assessing School Physical Activity
It is important to assess how the school is performing in the wellness and activity department, find out strengths and weaknesses of the school, as well as find out the wellness/activity interests of students and staff members.
The Assessing School Physical Activity section has resources to accomplish this task.
Creating a Plan of Action
Once the assessment has been completed, it is important to create a plan of action with concrete goals, how these goals will be achieved and dates they should be accomplished by.
Visit Creating a Plan of Action for help.
Training Staff
It is important that staff be trained on the tools the school plans to use with the students, faculty and staff.
Staff Training has trainings on inclusion, classroom physical activity, before and after school care, and more!
Celebrating Success
This celebration not only showcases the new tools, but it also shows families and the community the efforts the school is making to improve their well-being.
Find out how to plan a kickoff celebration at Celebrating Success.
Finding Resources
Resources provide links to funding, grants, vendors and equipment, and other resources that can help determine what will work best for the school.
