Be Active Communities

Be Active defines our work through the Socio Ecological Model, a community-based approach to help individuals and organizations establish policies that make physical activity and good health the easy choice throughout all sectors of the community. Through regular engagement, education and encouragement, Be Active partners with schools, families, work sites, senior centers and faith centers, offering tools and support to help North Carolinians incorporate small lifestyle changes that create big health improvements.

Our Model

The Socio Ecological Model is a framework used to effectively examine the multiple effects of social elements in an environment in order to create change. This approach is more likely to sustain efforts over time than any single intervention.
